WE WENT ON A DATE

The Mr and I rarely celebrate holidays on the actual day. This Valentine's Day was no exception, so we celebrated today! It was a perfect day. It started with breakfast with the most delicious french toast! Then we grabbed some coffee and chai at our favorite cafe. We walked around the Japanese garden at the Ft Worth botanical garden - it was beautiful. Then we did a little shopping and bought each other our gifts! After grabbing some chocolate from Dude, Sweet, we went to the movies and headed home. It was seriously wonderful. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am, but today I was reminded of it. I hope you each had so much fun with your loved one!

a day at the opera

The Mr gifted me with tickets to the opera for valentine's day and we got to go this last weekend! It was all I could've hoped for! Little known fact, for a significant portion of my life, I longed to be an opera singer. I loved singing classically and wanted nothing more than to devote my life to the stage. As I continued to grow, I realized that I was meant to go in a different direction in my singing career. I'm so happy with where I'm at now, but a piece of my heart will always belong to the opera. This day meant so much to me.

We saw The Marriage of Figaro and it was just lovely! The sets were beautiful, the story was funny, and the singing... I can't even. It was perfect and I just had to share. If you haven't been before, you should!

a segway tour

The Mr surprised me last week on our date day; as opposed to our regular date night, which has since been deemed date day due to my new work schedule. He purchased a groupon for a segway tour of the Botanical Gardens in Ft Worth - I know we look a little geeky, but seriously guys, it was SO much fun!! The segways we rode were off-road ones, so they cost $7000! Cray cray. They do a tour of the stockyards too and have polo games! haha, we'll probably do that next! I love us.

I have missed blogging so much as of late. I really wish I could be more present. I'm trying to adjust to my new schedule and I know I'll get the hang of all of this. Thanks so much for bearing with me. I hope your week has been all sorts of grand!

That time I cut my hair...

I had a surprise day date with the Mr yesterday, when it turned out he had a day off and so did I! We met up in the morning at a local coffee shop, to chat and work. This is kind of one of our favorite things to do. Mostly because we're both able to work from anywhere and we love being able to bounce off ideas with each other.

Oh, and I got a haircut! Nothing terribly drastic, cause I'm a wuss. But I did get tons more layers, which you can't really see, and I got some side swept bangs. I was trying to decide if I should go with the straight across bangs again, but knew how much they drove me crazy the last time; I like low maintenance. I like a little bit of change and as you can see in the far left photo, I was in desperate need! Overall I was happy with the cut and for the first time, didn't feel like crying when it was all over. I'm a tad bit attached to my hair because when I was a child I had "the mushroom" haircut, basically a bowl. Oh it was awful. So I vowed to never cut my hair short again, which I did one time but that's a whole other story of awkward embarrassment, ha! Hope you enjoy your day, I'm off to work!

A few more...

The Mr sent me some photos he took the other day with his iphone. As if there weren't enough pictures of this day, I thought I'd share them with you^_^

This is my fourth post today. Whoa. Today I'll be spending much needed girl time with Kelsey and some of our students from our youth group. Things expected; a craft store run, swimming, eating, photo taking and lots of chatting, ie a good  day indeed!

Date Day!

I love love date days! The Mr took me on a perfect date day!! We started the day by going to our favorite taco stand, Salsa Limon, then stopped to grab a smoothie! then he took me to the Ft Worth zoo; I love love animals and even though it was crazy hot, it was lots of fun! Afterwards we went Downtown to eat and then joined some friends for some delicious dessert. It was quite the day, and I felt like such a lucky girl. He's so good to me:) OH and just fyi, this is probably a picture overload, so brace yourself.

Can we just take a moment to talk about how weird monkeys are? Cause for reals, they are so creepy. They look like hairy people and their little hands freak me out. Those orangoutangs were extra weird. That one, kept carrying a crate around, holding it with his feet and then sucking on it. That qualifies for weird people. So what do you think? Do monkeys freak you out too??

Urban Taco

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned to you all a little thing I like to call "Urban Day." In case I haven't, let me refresh your memory... Urban Day is when the Mr and I drive to an outdoor mall in Dallas and shop at Urban Outfitters and then eat at Urban Taco. It's the perfect mix and it's our little tradition. It's quite a little drive to get there so when we get to go, it's a special date day.

They have some of the tastiest salsa. And it's just the right amount. If you live in the area, you should definitely go try it out.

Have you checked out the new bows n' things in the shop?? You should. I am going to go help the Mr out at the campgrounds. He has moved there for the next five weeks to help out and I'm gonna go paint today :) I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
