My friends and I decided to have a Friendsgiving (thanks so much Elsie, for the sweet idea!) It was wonderful and Kelsey and I had so so much fun adding all of the little details. Maybe too much fun?
Jar names tags, garland, homemade flavored butters, full turkey dinner, sweet centerpiece, games and laughs... it was such a special night!
Did anyone else celebrate Friendsgiving??
the other night Kalli and I decided to have a little girl's night and make some dinner while the guys were out - the mr. was out of town and her husband had to work late. It was such a great night. We made grilled cheese and tomato basil soup and it was completely delicious. It's such an easy dinner too, which made it even more perfect. We headed on over to her family's house and carved pumpkins by the fire. It was a great start to a wonderful fall!
footnote: you can checkout my instagram to see what I carved!
I love fall weather!! It's nice and cool here and I couldn't be more pleased. I'm looking forward to warm cider, boots & scarves, leaves turning colors, pretty new candles, snuggling up with a book, and many more fun nights making s'mores with friends! Do you have any favorite Fall traditions?
The other day the Mr and I went to go see some of our friends perform at a really cool outdoor food trailer park. The food was yummy and the music was wonderful. Their band is called The Animal Family Singers and you can hear them on itunes, if you're interested.
In other news, I realized that most of my newest creations are not cross-stitch, but in fact embroidery. (thanks for the heads up) Either way, it's fun and yes, I'm still stitching away. I'll share my newest ones soon! Have a sweet weekend!
Last weekend my friends and I decided to go rock climbing! It was such a blast! I was a little nervous when we first started, but after awhile I got the hang of it and had so so much fun!!
I went through a phase a few years back where I decided to be more adventurous and say yes to every opportunity that presented itself. It was a pretty fun year and come to think of it, I should give that whole thing another shot! During that time though, I went repelling in New Mexico and it was amazing! I knew that I was going to have fun with this rock climbing thing. I will definitely go back soon!
Forgive the weird coloring of the photos, it was very yellow in there, ha! Also, did anyone else notice the insane legs on my Mr?? What the?! Moving on. What are some other fun things you all like to do? We were thinking of trying that trampoline place next, where the walls and floors are all trampolines! Anyone been before?
On My Mind: Alright, so how did that whole trust/worry thing go? Did you check back on your piece of paper and see if it worked?? I bet it did! Hope so anyway.
Today I really want to talk about friends. This holiday season I find myself extremely overwhelmed by the love and support of my family and friends. More than ever I am completely grateful for the new friends in my life. All my life I have had at least two best friends, you know what kind I'm talking about. The kind of friends who you can be completely yourself around, who won't judge you, who will call you out when you're being lame, who you can talk all of your problems out with, the ones who go through life with you and just get you. There are few people in life who you can call these types of friends. That's mostly why I'm writing this. Have you ever lost a friend? Not like through death, but as in drifting apart? I can attest to this and I must admit that while it is a horribly painful phase to go through, I've come to the realization that it's meant to happen. Sometimes people are in our lives for a season and others stay for years and years! Those friends are the ones you should hold on to and treasure, because they truly are rare. I went through about a two year phase of being "friendless." I wasn't a loser, you don't have to feel sorry for me, I had the other kind of friends, the hangout friends, the talk about surface-y stuff friends, the we go to class together so were friends friends... but no real friends. During that time I learned to be okay without friends. Sounds so sad, but honestly it was a time where I was able to grow closer to God, strengthen my relationship with the Mr and learn not to take for granted the friendships God would soon bring into my life. I'm so blessed to have the friends in my life that I do!
Until Next Time: Do you have a friend that you haven't talked to in a while? Reach out to them, maybe they're missing your friendship just as much as you. If you have wonderful friends, tell them they're wonderful! There's nothing like being reminded by your friends that they're grateful you're in their life. If you find yourself being a little lonelier these days, take advantage of this time to be alone with God, to grow and to learn. And if nothing else, you have a friend in me^_^
I know I've been a little silent lately, but I've been extra busy with "senior stuff". bluh. I purchased my cap and gown, bought my very first college sweatshirt, & had my night of worship!! It was so much fun and it feels good to have crossed it off my checklist; I'm that much closer to graduation, which is only 28 days away! eeep! To top off the senior festivities, tomorrow I'm having my senior photos taken^_^
My sweet friend Kalli snapped a few photos of my special night. I borrowed these lamps and set them on the sides of the stage; they added a nice ambiance...
Thanks so much for all of your support and prayers, I wish you could've all been there^_^ I hope you're having a lovely week! The blog should be back to a normal schedule next week, promise!
As some of you may know, I'm graduating in like 45 days. As a senior I get to have a night of worship which is like my senior recital hoopla! I have several friends also doing their night of worship which requires a flyer to be posted around school. Two of my friends asked me to take photos for their night and here are a few of my faves.
So yeah. I would love to get a real nice camera and have some photography lessons, but until then I'll just keep practicing^_^ OH and I'll be posting the ones taken of my team soon!
In other news, I'm leaving to Houston tomorrow for my Dad's birthday and my brother and sister are both coming too! I love family time! So please forgive me if I'm a bit silent for a few days, I promise I'll be back! Hope you have a swell week!
