This is the longest I've ever been gone from the blog and I must admit it's been really weird. I've tried to find a balance, but if I'm honest, I'm still trying to figure it out. Full time job, grad school, marriage and ministry... doesn't leave too much time for downtime. This last month has been busy, but fun! Here's a few peeks at what you missed and now we get to play catch up! I already have a few posts lined up. It's good to be back. Thanks for sticking with me!

BITS + PIECES

This last month has been so very crazy and wonderful. From adding a member to the family, to getting a new job, to Elisha's first triathlon of the season... it's felt like a whirlwind. I love change when the change is good. This change has been incredible, but that's not to say it hasn't come with it's own set of challenges. We're coming up with new routines, figuring out what our new "normal" is and learning a lot along the way. PS is still very important to me and something I fully intend on putting more time and attention to; I'm just learning the balance. Oh the balance. Does anyone ever really get the balance? I hope to soon, and am so thankful for each of you for joining me in the process. Y'all are the best!

Happy Easter! Mel

This weekend my parents were in town. We had so much fun introducing them to Gretchen and seeing how she interacts with them. She's not too partial to strangers and we're trying to get her used to being around people, because well, we're usually around people! She's warming up to the idea, but mostly just prefers to be cuddled on the couch. Which we do often. Despite the busyness, I managed to work in a few diys, sip some tea and get her a cute new name tag! We're fairly certain her color is red; it brings out her fur, ha! I rarely say this, but I'm pretty stoked it's Monday! I think it's going to be a good week and I ca't wait for April!

Meet Gretchen

I'd like to formally introduce the newest addition to the Garcia Family; Gretchen! We had our eye on her for awhile and I kept telling Elisha how much I liked her. We had been pretty set on finding a specific breed and were looking forward to having a puppy and seeing her grow up, but when I saw Gretch, it all went out the window. I usually want every dog I meet, so I didn't really press the matter. I went to work Tuesday like normal and text Elisha throughout the whole day... nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I text him that I was on my way home and as I opened the door I couldn't have been more surprised! It was like a dream moment - there she was! Just sitting with Elisha on the couch like that's where she'd always been and always would be - exactly where she belonged. After a few "eeeeps" and cries, I held her in my arms and knew she was meant for our family. The last few days have been so exciting getting to know her personality and seeing how she fits in our little family. She's received hundred of kisses and oodles of cuddles - this girl LOVES the cuddles! I think she likes us and loves to greet us with yips, wiggles and licks! It's the best!

I still can't believe we have a dog! I'm excited for this new season for Elisha and I. And I really can't believe that he pulled off such a huge surprise - he truly is the best! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! So, without further ado, here are a few photos from Gretch's first night.

My little love - I'm obsessed with her already! I'd like to apologize in advance for the excessive amount of photos you will see of her! But seriously, can you blame me?? She's a doll I tell you!

I've been working on a brand new product to debut at the Walk the Light Festival this weekend, and eventually stock the shop with. I cannot wait to show you the final product! I'm in love with how they're coming along and I'm pretty sure some of you may be in love with them as much as I am! eee! Just wanted to share a little peek - I'll be posting more soon, I promise!

Frankie Daily Journal

I ordered my Frankie Daily Journal about three weeks ago and was so pleased to find it in the mail yesterday. The illustrations are absolute perfection, which will make planning my days, weeks, and months, all the more exciting. If you haven't checked out Frankie Magazine, I highly suggest you do! I'm just smitten.

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today. My allergies are basically going berzerk. I'm using the little joys and small victories to keep me motivated.

T H I S Y E A R

This year was literally the best year of my life. I'm kind of sad to see it go, but I cannot wait to see what this next year has in store. It'll be mine and Elisha's first official year married together and we have so many goals and visions for where we want our lives to go. Before we move on, I thought it would be fun to take a peek back.

- We started the year by using my new camera lens
- Elisha and I went to California where he completed his Super Spartan. And I met his sweet grandmother for the first time
- I went to Vegas for the first time with my sister and stepmom! Then we spent five days at Best Friends, in Utah, and played with cats and dogs all day
- We celebrated Easter with bunnies
- Elisha ran the Spartan Sprint and Pie N' the Sky was at Renegade in Austin
- Pie N' the Sky was featured in Crafty Magazine!
- We got engaged!!!
- My best friends got married!
- I turned 25
- We took our students on a missions trip to New York; worked in food pantries and navigated our way through the city.
- Elisha went to the Texas State Fair for the first time!
- I moved into our new home!
- Elisha completed his first triathlon sprint!
- We had our student outreach, Sparkout, and got to hangout with hundreds of students in the city!
- We celebrated Year Three of our church being started
- We got married!!!
- Elisha and I headed to Saint Lucia for our honeymoon
- Elisha wrapped up the year by completing the Spartan Beast (15 miles) and thus "Trifecting" for his first time!

What was the highlight of your year??

So we went to the fair last week, which just so happened to be Elisha's first time to the State Fair! Crazy. So of course, we ate everything in sight and did all there was to do. We actually got to go with my work, because I drove a bus - yes, a bus. Me, behind the wheel of a 13 passenger vehicle. It was quite the sight and an experience I shall not soon forget. It was fun to go on a date with Elisha and to experience the fair in all of it's greatness!

Last night we had our first premarital counseling session, which surprisingly I really enjoyed. In all of our years together, Elisha and I have never met with someone to discuss us. Maybe seperately we've done so, but never together, to receive council - we've just kind of figured it out on our own. Which, is great and all, but to discuss "us" with someone else really gives a whole new perspective on our relationship. And I love it! All of that to say, if you don't have someone (or a couple) in your life, that you and your other can go and talk to, you should get one. It's like totally great.

We are less than two weeks away now. like whoa.
