BITS + PIECES

This weekend I went to a plant nursery and it was just what I needed to help bring peace and relaxation. I had spent all Saturday morning working on schoolwork, so I figured I'd reward my hard work with a new plant! It was hard to choose, but I picked just the one and it's found a new home on our entertainment center. I'm currently loving Dusty Millers and Cacti - you can't kill cacti and that makes my heart warm. I'm still learning how to be a good plant mom, so succulents are the way to go. Have a good week!

This is the longest I've ever been gone from the blog and I must admit it's been really weird. I've tried to find a balance, but if I'm honest, I'm still trying to figure it out. Full time job, grad school, marriage and ministry... doesn't leave too much time for downtime. This last month has been busy, but fun! Here's a few peeks at what you missed and now we get to play catch up! I already have a few posts lined up. It's good to be back. Thanks for sticking with me!

BITS + PIECES

This last month has been so very crazy and wonderful. From adding a member to the family, to getting a new job, to Elisha's first triathlon of the season... it's felt like a whirlwind. I love change when the change is good. This change has been incredible, but that's not to say it hasn't come with it's own set of challenges. We're coming up with new routines, figuring out what our new "normal" is and learning a lot along the way. PS is still very important to me and something I fully intend on putting more time and attention to; I'm just learning the balance. Oh the balance. Does anyone ever really get the balance? I hope to soon, and am so thankful for each of you for joining me in the process. Y'all are the best!

Happy Easter! Mel

This weekend my parents were in town. We had so much fun introducing them to Gretchen and seeing how she interacts with them. She's not too partial to strangers and we're trying to get her used to being around people, because well, we're usually around people! She's warming up to the idea, but mostly just prefers to be cuddled on the couch. Which we do often. Despite the busyness, I managed to work in a few diys, sip some tea and get her a cute new name tag! We're fairly certain her color is red; it brings out her fur, ha! I rarely say this, but I'm pretty stoked it's Monday! I think it's going to be a good week and I ca't wait for April!

This weekend was the Walk the Light festival! We had so much fun meeting new faces and in spite of the rain, really had a blast. We actually ended up getting completely rained out around 5pm (it was supposed to go til 10), but it was so worth it! I was really thankful for supportive friends who stopped by in spite of the weather and grateful for meeting new friends! I also shared one of my brand new products - Embroidered Monogram Wall Hangings! I still have a few left over and am hoping to list them in the shop soon. In the meantime, if you'd like to place an order beforehand, feel free to email me! They are great for wedding gifts or welcoming a new baby! I'm pretty smitten with them myself!

How was your weekend? This Monday was unusually difficult to get hyped up for, anyone else? I think it's because the weather here has been cold and rainy. It's March. I am beyond ready for Spring!

I've been working on a brand new product to debut at the Walk the Light Festival this weekend, and eventually stock the shop with. I cannot wait to show you the final product! I'm in love with how they're coming along and I'm pretty sure some of you may be in love with them as much as I am! eee! Just wanted to share a little peek - I'll be posting more soon, I promise!

M A K E :: insta coasters

Since moving into our home, I have been on the search for the perfect coasters. I know, kinda strange, but our coffee table is glass and I hate those pesky water circles that are left behind. I found a few cute designs, but always felt like I shouldn't have to pay thaaat much for something that is keeping away condensation. Ya feel me? So, I decided to make some of my own and I'm way happier with this price and result.

S U P P L I E S :: white tiles (got mine at home depot for 13 cents each), Crystal Clear acrylic coating spray, black felt, mod lodge, (instagram) photos, scissors, hot glue (not pictured)

1) Cover each tile with a thin layer of mod podge and place your photo on top. Apply light pressure. Let the tile sit for about ten to fifteen minutes, giving your photo time to adhere to it.

2) Lay your tile down on the felt and cut around it. The felt will keep your coasters from scratching your table surface. Once you have enough squares to match your tiles, then take your hot glue gun and glue them in place. **You may want to cut your felt squares slightly smaller than your actual tile, to keep it from peeking out on the sides.

3) Use your acrylic coating spray to finish your project. Spray a nice and even coat on top of all your tiles. This will create a nice coat, to make sure that your photos aren't damaged by the condensation. This spray is kind of amazing. Let it sit outside for about ten to fifteen minutes, then you're all done!

I'm pretty smitten with how these turned out! I love that I was able to use all of the photos of Elisha and I drinking our bubble tea. It's kind of funny because I had about 15 more of these to choose from - we love our tea! You don't have to use instagram photos, obviously, but it's nice to have some that are cut perfectly to the right size.  These are a great way to personalize any home and would make a fun gift for a housewarming! And a huge perk is that this project only cost me a whopping $1.40!! So what are you waiting for? Go make some cute coasters!!
